This is the bed I would like to buy. White with mocha trim, although my favorite is white with ocean trim, but I'm afraid he'll think that the ocean trim is babyish when he grows up.
Thoughts? Has anyone bought furniture from Room and Board? Is the white bed girly? I don't think it is but I bought DS1 purple and aqua crocs when he was 3-4.

Oh, I forgot to mention it would be the Full bed with Low Footboard.

No but I'm just not a fan of white furniture at all. I think it looks dingy and dirty faster.

Yep, I would. I'm buying DS a white Ikea daybed in a couple weeks.

The white part doesn't bother me, but it sounds like you want this to last for a while and I think that style will look dated in a few years.

:yeahthat: We have a bed from Room and Board and I think its more classic yet still clean and modern.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
Candace's: good point about the style. I am looking for something modern but I do want it to last and you may be right that in a few years it might look dated.
Katydid1971: beautiful bed. What can you tell me about the quality?
I see from the responses that white bed =girl is not really an issue here. That is something a sales person once told me, but I guess he was wrong. (I thought he was but wanted to confirm ;))

I agree with this. And also with the PP that said white will look dingy, especially with a boy.
We have R&B furniture, we love the quality and the style. And their CS is really good IME.

I love this bed. We have it in the Pacific Maple and I love the color. We got it for DS almost 5 years ago and it exception of some damage caused but the bed rail we put on it when DS first move to it, its in beautiful shape. The color has darkened slightly and I just love it. I really feel that it is an heirloom piece that DS's DS will sleep in one day. We also got the 5 drawer dresser to go with it.

I wouldn't. I have a friend who bought an all white crib/rocker/dresser set for her son and as soon as he was ready for a big boy bed, got rid of it and told me that she regrets having gotten him white. She could have switched the crib over into a full size bed, but opted to just sell the set (and it was an expensive brand) in stead of keeping it. My boys have either dark cherry finish (which I don't recommend, EVERY little scratch, or in our case, TOOTH mark shows) and we also have a very nice Moosehead set. I can't remember which wood it is (a higher quality solid wood) that has a natural finish and I much prefer that to the darker wood, which also darkens the entire room (we have dark cherry molding, doors, HW floors, etc.).

Well, I did. But DS shares a room with his brother and it was much easier to buy white then match the pine furniture already in there. Also, it's a platform bed with no headboard, so you really don't see much white. I do think some white beds look girly, it depends on the style.

I don't think white beds are girly at all, unless they have an elaborate headboard with diamantes all over them!
DS has a lovely white bed from PBK, and it goes perfectly with his white, red and navy 'nautical' theme.
It drives me crazy that girls get to monopolize almost every color as it is: white is totally unisex and we should keep it that way!

DS has a white bed and white dresser, the bed was his crib with a simple headboard.
I'm not sure why folks think white looks dingy...both of my DC have white furniture, it's not expensive furniture by any means but looks as good now as it did when we bought it. (DD's is 8 years old/DS's 6). DS's bed, it's a full one was a cheap (99.00) Kmart convertible crib, when friends come over they ask if it's from Pottery Barn.
I also think white is much easier to buy bookshelves/other pieces for, especially if you go with a simple design.
DS's has this bedding...http://www.pemamericaoutlet.com/prod-All_State_Full_Quilt_with_2_Shams-4419.aspx?utm_source=cse&utm_medium=google&utm_term=QS1935FU-2300&utm_campaign=BROI and it looks very boyish with his furniture.

I bought DS a white bed from IKEA and if we still lived near one I'd buy another one for DS2. I don't think white is girly. It all depends on the style of the frame.

I would not buy white furniture for a boy or a girl
I will dissent - I love that bed! Gorgeous!
I have a dark crib but white dresser to match. I think white furniture is no harder to keep up than any other, depending on quality

Go for it! I'm noticing lots of dark navy and white for boys including white furniture. It looks very crisp and definitely not too feminine!
