We just got a new a/c and furnace installed. The company has good reputation on checkbook. However, it doesn't seem like someone is coming out to inspect the installation. Shouldn't someone from the county or state come out to inspect it? Or is it the norm not to have any sort of inspection.
This is all new to me so I am not sure about it.

Thank you

Did you or your installer open a permit before the work began?

No I didn't. I didn't realize that I needed to do that. Does that mean that I can't get an inspection now?

In the house we just prchased, the owners replaced the old furnace with a new without obtaining a permit. When our home inspection was done, this was flagged as a co issue because the flue should have been lined with the upgrade but was not. The seller had to pay to line the flue. Fortunately they did not have a co problem in the meantime.

I'd contact the town, get it inspected and hold the installer accountable for anything that needs to be done to bring it up to code. Licensed installers are required to do their work to code.
