Drive from NY to Montreal

Has anybody driven from NY to Montreal? We are going there next week for 2 nights (with 2 kids) and are trying to figure out a side trip on the way back, possibly for an extra night. Any suggestions?

Corning glass museum, Farm Santuary (Watkins Glen, I think). I don't know where you are coming from, but Niagra Falls? Also, the Biodome in Montreal is cool.

Do you mean NYC to Montreal? If so then Corning Glass, Watkins Glen, and Niagara Falls are all going to be WAY out of the way. Saratoga Springs is directly between them and you might find something fun to do there. The baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown would be not too far out of your way. But really, the eastern part of NY is out of my knowledge base for fun stuff with kids, so that's about all I've got!

Lake Placid is a short detour (about 25 minutes off exit 30 of I-87) and, depending on the age of your kids, they might like seeing all the Olympic facilities, ski jump, and bobsled runs.
