We will be traveling with ds next month and I am looking for recommendations for good air travel toys. Ds will be 9 months when we go. He is very active and into everything. It is a 4 hour flight. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

Is he scribbling at all yet? A magnadoodle might be okay for him, although you might have to help him erase it. I'd take away the stampers though, they're a bit too small for that age.

Maybe something like this (http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=538189&parentCategoryId=117206&categoryId=117207), if you can keep all of the balls together.

DD LOVED this toy until well after the age of 1 year:

We had something similar to this (I think it was a mailbox instead) for DS1 when we flew the first time at that age.

Big stickers and a sheet of paper might be fun. You don't really need much. Just something new. That he hasn't seen before, will keep his interest for a bit.

NEW lift the flap book (one never seen before) -- I liked these
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0794421806/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0794414397&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0SWRXDETCDR81QV0GWM5

parchment paper -- kids love the way it sounds

Stickers that peel off easily!
LOTS of little snacks
Wrap the items -- fun to rip the paper and takes time to open
Get a little vitamin holder from CVS and fill with little snacks if you are doing finger food

This toy was awesome for us on plane trips...
(You can turn the music off so it's just the light/mirror, and you can store other toys inside the bag). It's also a big hit in the car.

A pill organizer like this (can get at CVS or Target):

http://www.amazon.com/Ezy-Dose-Push-Button-Reminder/dp/B001OK1YUA/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1350518057&sr=1-1&keywords=push+button+pill+organizer

and put cherrios, puffs, goldfish, etc. in it. Kids LOVE to open & close the compartments. It has kept my kids busy on many plane trips. At 5 & 3 they still play with it (but now put pennies or squinkies in it)

:yeahthat: We have a bunch of these lift the flap books (zoo, farm, vehicles, school). Both kids liked them starting around your DC's age and they still get use (especially on trips) at ages 2 and 4.

We have also done the magnadoodle, easy stickers, finger puppets and a cheap plastic 4x6 photo album with pics of family, friends, zoo animals, etc.

If still teething, a vibrating/massaging teether is great.
good luck!

This is seriously a GENIOUS idea. DD LOVES to hide things away (usually in her jewelery box, an empty wipes container, or tupperware containers) and take them out, over and over and over (even at the age of 3!). I need to keep this in mind for our next trip.
