miralax question

DD has been on miralax for almost a year now due to constipation. Occassionally, she will poop before she gets the miralax. So my question is, do I give it to her if she already pooped? Does it keep things moving to give it to her even though she already pooped? Obviously, I don't want her to have too loose of a bowel movement.

I would. You may have to play with the dose to figure it out, but IME, they can poop and still have waaaay more in there then you realize. Or sometimes the softer stuff leaks around the larger, harder stool that is still in there. That's why a lot of people don't realize their kids are constipated when they really are.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I gave it to her the other day after she pooped and then she had a really loose movement later that day. But other times I have given it to her after a normal bowel movement and there hasn't been a problem. Maybe I will just cut the dose back a bit today.
