I would like to get a Marble Run for my (twins four years old) girls birthday. For convenience I prefer Amazon. I have looked at the ones they have but cannot tell anything about quality or if comparing the number of pieces. Does anyone have a recommendation for a set and if needed an add on set?

i bought this one for my 4 year old this summer. she loves it!!!! it is easy for her to put together, pieces are well made.

we will probably purchase either an additional set, or the accessory pack this Christmas.

We have several different versions. At that age I like the Discovery Toys one the best. A bit pricier but sturdy and easy to use.

Thanks, I saw that model but did not find an accessory set by the company that I thought would match. Did you have one in mind that you have seen?

I recommend against getting a wooden one. We have two, a wooden one and a plastic one. The wooden one is super hard to play with because the smooth blocks slide off each other and the whole shebang comes crashing down. I sold it at a yard sale. The plastic one is the Imaginarium and is is a little hard to put together (I do it with the girls)but fun. I'd be interested in hearing more about the discovery toys run. I like their stuff.

We got a Discovery Toys marble run on Craigslist and are enjoying it very much

We have the imaginarium one sold at Toys r Us....It's okay. Nothing spectaculer. My kids have fun with it. I got it last year as a last minute gift and of course I payed full price. I had missed out on the 10 dollar one some posters got at JC Penny. I was glad though that for the extra money i spent it had 6 bottoms/Bases where the Pennys one I think only had 3 so even though they had a similar amount of pieces, Pennys had a lot of tubes. The imaginarium set had more "different" pieces to keep it intersting with more configurations. That said, if you are not sure they will love it I'd try to start with an inexpensive one. I know there will probably be some deals on these next month. Ours is currently on sale now. I was considering the ones at Lakeshore learning, but, didn't have time to ship or get over to that side of town before I needed it.

Make sure you do a search for marble race as well as marble run. Different places/brands label them different.

Here is a link for more choices of imaginarium

We have 2 Marbulous sets, for maybe 5 years. We have one solid color and one translucent. Still going strong! They work well. We have broken a couple pieces over the years but nothing major. Lots of fun and easy for kids & adults.

gosh that marbulous set is PRETTY. is it wrong that i want it just for that? we would use it on our coffee table which is in our sunny living room. i don't might plastic...when it looks like that :)

(i do think my kid would like it...she's going to be 5 in december. that's the right age , yes? we have a quadrilla basic set i probably should get out and gauge interest...but this interlocking one seems less frustrating for sure)
