Questions:

Does anyone know if non-IKEA mattresses (i.e. ones sold at baby r us or buy buy baby) are compatible w/ IKEA cribs? Some of the sizes don't appear to be consistent, but I thought all mattresses were standard size....

Also, does anyone have any bad experiences with IKEA cribs, mattresses or furniture thy care to share?

Thank you!

We got an ikea crib for DD2 and are reusing the mattress we had for DD1. There's a little bit of space at the head and foot of the crib, but it fits snugly enough that we weren't worried about it. DD2 is only 7 weeks old and is still in the rock n play in our room so hasn't spent much time in the crib yet, but it seems sturdy enough.

We have an older Ikea Gulliver (before the 2011 redesign) and a Colgate Classica 1 mattress. No gaps at all. I originally bought an Ikea mattress and then took it back because I thought it was too soft.
