DS (who's 4) wants to enter a pumpkin decorating contest. The theme is spooky. Any ideas? I'm not feeling real creative today. You can't carve it because they have to sit out for a few days, but there aren't any other rules.

You can paint it with glue and glitter it. Black and orange glitter...make a spooky cat or something?

There are tons of ideas online that don't involve carving; even the October issue of the Rachael Ray magazine had a 50-things to do with a pumpkin.

If it were me, I might paint the pumpkin black (spray paint) and use push-pins or thumbtacks to create ghost outlines or a black cat (you can find templates online - use carving templates as stencils) and fill in with glow-in-the-dark paint.

I was looking for no-carve pumpkin ideas last week. The mummy was a cute one. You can also use sharpie on pumpkins with great results. Also, I saw something about using chalkboard paint then chalking the pumpkin, which sounded pretty fun.

I was going to suggest the same thing.
