I am considering taking the kids to visit SoCal next summer (the best time for visiting the desert, ha ha!). The plan would be to stay a month at least. It's clear that I will have to rent a car or minivan because no one in my family has a car big enough for 3 across that I can borrow. Dh suggested renting from a local company rather than one of the big names at the airport because it will be cheaper.
Is that true? Are there any tradeoffs to renting locally?
