I'm trying to decide between some fun sandwich cutter options (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Munchkin-Silly-Sandwich-Cutter/20450318#Specifications and http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/animal-lunch-punch-sandwich-cutters/) and would appreciate feedback if you have tried either options or something else you prefer. I'm leaning towards the munchkin silly cutter because it is sized more closely to sandwich bread, and the puzzle shaped ones look fun. I'd appreciate it if you have any reviews to offer. Thank you!

I've always used a sandwich cutter because DD doesn't like eating the crust. I tried those cute little cutters with various shapes of animals, flowers. etc. and I don't seem to be able to get a nice clean cut (perhaps it's the type of bread I used - porous, like the whole grains type). However, the ones at Pottery Barn you linked has good reviews so it might be worth a try. What worked for me is the stainless steel kind from Pampered Chef that crimps around the edge. The sandwich looks just like the crustables sold in frozen section.

Have you seen the one on FunBites deal that Melaine posted in that other thread?

No experience but I just ordered a set because they seem pretty good. I like how it's one piece, one step and thus less goes to waste.

I have one very similar to the Munchkin one you linked to, of a train (like the penguin one it makes 2 trains). it's alright, thing is it doesn't really look like a train untill you add more stuff to it (e.g. crackers for wheels etc). I can see the same thing with the penguin or the elephant one..until you add an eye or something it probably will be a bit hard to tell on an actual sandwich what it is supposed to be. The puzzle one looks like it will be best one, bc you don't have to add anything to it and it's obvious they are puzzle pieces. I am seeing the appeal of one-piece sandwich cutters bc with the smaller ones (like PBK and others) i find that I waste a ton otherwise.

BTW, to get a clean cut i found that it helps to flatten the bread a bit...before and then a bit after putting PB & J or whatever between. otherwise, yes, i would get bread bursting/ripping and some parts when i went to press the cutter and it did not look good at all.

I have the munchkin elephant one and its so cute. I was *just* looking at this set on Amazon and the puzzle one was my favorite:

Thank you, happy mom for the amazon link.
I'm a bit concerned about the lack of reviews, but maybe I will stop by my local walmart since it has it in stock and purchase it. On the diapers.com website it's around a couple of dollars, so I'm imagining it to be around the same price point at Walmart. I will update once I make a decision.

Thanks so much ms pacman for the tips and also referring me to Melaine's thread. I had missed that! The set looks really cool how it is a simple gadget to create all those fun bite-sized pieces. My dd would love that. She doesn't quite take to eating whole or even half sandwiches yet.

Thank you, mik8. I should look into the pampered chef one that you have. The crimping effect reminds me of the uncrustable sandwiches that I've seen at Costco.
