I've never owned winter boots as an adult, but this is our first winter in CO, and I need some to play in the snow with my kids.

I'm looking for waterproof, insulated, boots (mid height - like above ankle but not all the way up my calf). I've found versions in sorel and kamik that I like, and both seem to be good brands with good reviews. This is not about appearance as I really just want to be warm (but I do like the way they both look).

So...Sorel Tivoli (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/sorel-tivoli-plaid-winter-pac-boots-waterproof-insulated-for-women~p~3699x/) or Kamik Sunapee (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/kamik-sunapee-pac-boots-waterproof-insulated-for-women~p~4622h/)?

I think Sorel. I have a pair of both, and I think the Sorels are a little more comfy and a little warmer.

I decided to order....both. The Kamik only came in whole sizes, so I ordered up. The Sorel was reviewed as being a bit narrow/small, so I ordered up in it, too. The Kamik is 3" higher than the Sorel, and I really need it to keep out snow, so it has that going for it. Some of the reviews say that particular Sorel isn't the quality most associate with the brand and that it was made in Vietnam instead of Canada.

So...we'll see which I like better. ;)

Just FYI, there are no Sorels being made in Canada anymore. Columbia bought the brand out about a decade ago and the factory in Kitchener was closed.

I grew up in Boulder!

LL bean makes some good winter boots. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/65942?feat=506700-GN3&page=quilted-faux-shearling-lined-l-l-bean-boots-14
