We are looking at several adjustable play tables for our basement. Thinking it would be used as a low play table w/o chairs for Playmobil, Legos/blocks, trains etc. for now, and then a higher table w/ chairs in years to come (maybe for games, puzzles, crafts, etc.)

Some of the tables have an raised edge (to keep toys from falling off) and some are just flat. I can see the edge as great for some things, especially now, but worried it might get in the way later. Any advice on which would be better?

My vote is no edge.

We had the same dilemma. We went with no edge. I'm glad we did! An edge would get in the way.

No edge!!! An edge is great for toys but terrible for drawing/writing.

We went with a standard rectangular daycare style table, so no edge. We dont have room for two tables so I wanted a table that could be used for writing and art as well as trains and such. I will say it is annoying when the cars and trains roll right off, but I'd still rather have a multipurpose table.

I had the same dilemma. I went with no edge although at times can see how an edge would be helpful (hello rolling crayons!). I'd still probably go with no edge again though because the no edge will be better for later.
