If booster seats use car seat belts to secure the child, does it really matter if they expire? Especially backless boosters?

Just wondering because you can't exactly replace the seat belt in a car so does it matter what the expiration date is for a booster?

Thanks,

Yes, they do expire.

The plastic that they are made of, which sort of serves as "adult hips" to hold the seatbelt in place, can degrade and not perform in a crash.
