(I don't really mean that Spy Gear aisle at Target).

My girls (6.5) are into being spies/detectives. The carry around notebooks to write "clues" down, use magnifying glasses all the time, etc.

Any ideas for something fun to feed into this for Christmas/upcoming birthday? I was thinking something like a fingerprint kit, or code book, or invisible ink - that sort of thing... Any suggestions?

eta: when is a good age for Harriet the Spy - (book or movie)? I feel like it is a little mature for them now - they are in first grade and super sensitive.

I know you said no to Spy Gear, but all the spies I know love the door alarm :)

DS1 likes these books: http://www.amazon.com/Brainiacs-Secret-Agent-Activity-Book/dp/0880884460/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1352058071&sr=1-7&keywords=brainiacs

Walkie Talkies (ours are Lego) are great fun.

Binoculars, camera, Walkie talkies, flashlights.
Hat to be incognito, sunglasses and gloves, too.

walkie talkies!!!! I should have thought of that! I am not anti-spy gear; I just meant that I know it exists. If you have particular spy gear suggestions, those are great too, thanks!

These are great ideas! Thanks.
