Agreed. The only time I was fond of daylight savings time was when we had an extra hour of bar time college.

We hate it too. Thought I'll admit "falling back" was nice before we had kids because we got to sleep in! Not now...

Right there with you. I also hate the 5:30am fallout... and in turn, the super cranky kids that go along with it all!!!

Extra hour of bar time and sleep. Ah, the good 'ole days.

Agree. What's the point? Wasn't it started so farmers could have extra daylight hours after school? Is it really applicable anymore?

Saves $$$ in energy costs. My dad said he remembers having year round DST during energy crises when he was younger.

My 21st birthday fell on the "fall back" day. It seemed so awesome back then. Now, not so much.

I read the title of this post and immediately thought, "I hate you.". :rotflmao:. So :yeahthat: to the OP.

Yes, I wish we would evolve to the point that we don't do this anymore!

I hate you.

:yeahthat: totally not relevant any more. I remember when they added the extra two months of standard time (delaying dst) reading about how much energy was saved nationally by delaying dst. why not just scrap it?

It's the worst. Now my newborn and toddler are waking up at the same time and the mornings are so much harder.

I'm with you, OP. I didn't realize what torture a time change is until DS came along. He seems to share DH's inability to adjust easily. And he's already an early riser. Sigh.

Sorry, but i love it this year. Sandy had dd sleep schedule all of, she was going to bed so late cause we were out late staying warm. DST got us back on track, her 10 pm bedtime and 8 am wake ups are back to 9 and 7 were they belong

yeah, it was brutal before when my baby woke up at 5 AM, but 4 AM is ridiculous!

Still suffering. Yesterday it was 4:30am wake up. Today it was 5am. Yes, it's getting better but not nearly fast enough.

The only upside is that at least it isn't dark at 7:15am when I leave the house for work.

So far this year is way better than last year. Last year ds NEVER adjusted. He woke up at 4:30-5:00 for FOUR months. This year he's doing fine (not totally adjusted but only about 20 min off.).

'tis not the farmers.

http://www.history.com/news/8-things-you-may-not-know-about-daylight-saving-time

Contrary to popular belief, American farmers did not lobby for daylight saving to have more time to work in the fields; in fact, the agriculture industry was deeply opposed to the time switch when it was first implemented on March 31, 1918, as a wartime measure.

I always thought so too, and my dad is a farmer. He's since set me straight. ;)
