keyboard for beginning piano player?

DD is going to start piano lessons in January so I thought she could get a keyboard for Christmas, since we have nothing at home on which she could practice.

What would you recommend? I *think* she's going to enjoy it but of course I'm not positive, so we don't want to invest a ton of money into a fancy, expensive one. However, I want something substantial enough that if she does love it, she won't grow out of it immediately because it's not good enough.

I don't know much about keyboards, but you do want one that is "touch sensitive," i. e. one that plays louder or softer depending on how hard the key is pressed. Otherwise learning dynamics is impossible.
