Obviously my new DD is way too young for toys but since it will be after Christmas before she is I thought I would buy them now for her to grow into and for DS to get some play with before he might outgrow them. I was thinking of the FP tea set or Leapfrog picnic basket. I am so lost on buying girl stuff! I have so many nephews and of course DS that I'm not sure what would be great for DD in the coming year. Please help!

My DD was 6 months old last Christmas, and one of her presents was actually a big box full of Earth's Best baby foods, puffs, spoons, bowls, bibs...all the things she'd need to start eating solids. It was a big hit :-) She also got some bath toys, baby bath products, baby bath towels, etc. A lot of what I bought her was practical/useful (things I'd have eventually bought anyway), but it was fun for her to unwrap it all and she seemed pretty excited about it!

Our girl will be just nine months when Christmas rolls around and since I don't think I can stop her very excited extended family her dad and I will be sticking to some cute necessary clothes and some learning/playing toys (like the cartoon-style remote control I just bought her at Target today). And I need to look for a silver ornament to engrave. But that's about it.

If you're thinking about the LeapFrog Picnic Basket, I highly recommend the LeapFrog Cooking Pot as another excellent option: http://www.walmart.com/ip/LeapFrog-Cook-Play-Potsy/14539497. From a young age, DD loved stirring the food in the pot and pretending to feed me from the spoon. It made me melt. :love-retry:

Other things that DD has loved:
-- Mozart Music Cube (http://www.target.com/p/mozart-magic-cube/-/A-535350) - She LOVES dancing and music.
-- Minnie Mouse Bowtique (both http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Disneys-Beach-Bowtique-Minnie/dp/B0042ES4L2 and http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Disneys-Princess-Bowtique-Minnie/dp/B0042ES4MG) - She's still too young to operate the snap-on pieces herself, but I enjoy helping her play dress up with Minnie.
-- My Pal Violet (http://www.target.com/p/leapfrog-my-puppy-pal-violet/-/A-11324613) - Customizable and plays music. Definitely a favorite.
-- Oh, and of course, her own babydoll (or 2). Whichever one appeals to you. I bought a couple from Bit Of Whimsy (http://bitofwhimsydolls.com/), but we also have several regular, store-bought babydolls (from Kohl's and Target). She loves them all just the same.
