After having two kids with a stomach bug this week, I needed to wash some pillows. So I ran them through the washer and dryer, and of course they came out all lumpy and misshapen. So I went to Google looking for solutions to this problem and most suggestions said to run wash and dry the pillows with tennis balls or a pair of clean tennis shoes. The balls or shoes would keep the pillow filling from bunching up.

Well I put them through a quick cycle in the washing machine, and then loaded them into the dryer...but now every time I start the dryer, after a minute or two one of the shoes (I used Crocs, since they are waterproof) kicks the dryer door open and the machine shuts down.

Does anyone have any other solutions for de-mangling my pillows?

Do you have dryer balls? They do the same thing. I keep them in my dryer all the time.
