DD is receiving tape with patterns on it (she's in a tape phase). Some Lipsmackers natural lip gloss. AG-style shoes from Walmart. A mini Nerf gun (SO and I will get these too). A new tree ornament that has something to do with this past year. And any other little dollar-type items I come across.

SO is getting the mini Nerf gun. Razor refills. No other ideas yet. Maybe an ornament from his fave football team that we watch together.

i stuff all the stockings in my house, including my own. we'll be at my parents this year...so i need to think of a few things for them too :)

so far i probably have WAY to much for dd and a few things for myself.... i love new ideas though! ;)

myself:
little figures of the beatles (i think they are kinnex? or something...they were at target, not on sale, and i STILL could not resist them)
orange wellies for my 18" dolls (yes, i'm a child)

DD:
$5 hexbug target giftcard

3 scentos markers ("holiday" scents-pine(elf), peppermint(snowman),and gingerbread(reindeer)

Sparkly Baton (from michaels, in the cheap toys bins-- 2 dollars, but i know she'll love)

Sponge Grow Capsule Insects (she asks for this everytime we go to our garden, but they are 5 bucks there... 1 dollar at michaels! she'll love them!)

Domestic Cats TOOB (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM6798759513P?sid=IDx20110310x00001 i&srccode=cii_184425893&cpncode=31-48840787-2.... dd is "OBSESSED" with cats)

Sometype of calico critter from my "stash" (babies for sure...she LOVES the babies pretty much exclusively)

Rio Dvd (requested, haven't ordered yet)

Chocolate Santa
Something peppermint (again, my child is "obsessed")
Clementine

this reminds me to go in my closet and see what is lurking :) my mother is typically very easy :) my husband and father, not so much :)

The boys
I found a great deal (for Germany) on a 24 pack of Playdoh and will split it 4 ways.
Playmobil figures to go with the western series they are receiving.
Bubbles
Stickers
Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars
a card game for my eldest
a few sweets (hopefully my mother remembers to send candy canes this year)

We also buy each boy a book each year and place it next to the stocking.

My husband (theme this year is bicycle riding)
Lindt chocolates
a tie
CD writer pens
a yellow safety vest for riding his bike in the dark
a rain cover for his bike seat
new winter gloves
new scarf so he stops stealing my cashmere ones
bike helmet rain cover
some sort of toy that is yet to be determined

Oooooh I hadn't thought of this! I've really really been wanting the Squinkies Cinderella set for myself. I want to put it on every birthday cake I have for the rest of my life. Seriously. But I felt silly buying them...but SANTA can always put them into my stocking!!

 Thank you!!!

For the DDs I have:
sticker earrings (they've been hounding us to let them get their ears pierced)
new crayons/markers
coloring books

I have these wooden checkers in my cart for DS's stocking: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JMGJXQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A1OSFFZX3JZB4Z
Other things I will probably put in are pokemon cards, yugioh cards, itunes gift card, candy.

For DD I don't have any ideas but will probably be art supplies, maybe a little purse, candy.

We're going on a trip two days after Christmas so maybe some travel things like a new DS game for both. Honestly, I haven't given it too much thought yet!

Nice to hear someone else has a tape fiend! My 5 yo blows through rolls of duct tape! Right now she has two strollers taped together to make a double. I'm thinking engineering is in her future!!

i saw the scented markers at target (on a stationary section holiday endcap) and they came in packs of 3 for 3 dollars...unfortunately the way they packaged them was in scent combos that didn't include all the preferred scents. fortunately i then found them at MICHAELS packaged individually-- so either target or michaels, but i found michaels to be more suited to our needs :)

I like to use the small toys that come along with Target gift cards every now and then. I buy the gift card and just use it myself, and then put the toys in their stockings. So far this year I have a caterpillar hexbug, 3D house puzzle, and today I found a car that follows a line drawn with a marker, and a magnetic maze.

Love those poppydrop earrings too!

Santa (who shops at Target) almost always brings socks - not sure why, but both kids get excited about this! DD gets hair accessories, lip gloss, etc. Last year, both kids got flashlights which were a huge hit.

A friend of mine just tipped me off to the Hello Kitty bath and body set in stock now at our local Costco. She's taking everything out of the package and putting everything in her DD's stocking. Instant stocking! Think it's around $20 and comes with a lot of stuff, all usable.

DD & DS will both be getting:

piggy paints
baby legs (DS likes to wear them on his arms during winter time)
glow sticks
aquasphere goggles
magformers (we already have 2 sets but I found a site that sells them individually by shape and DS really wants some pentagons like he has at school, I got DD some trapezoids).
Sweets

DH
His stocking is going to be wine themed.

More vacu vin wine stoppers both in boring gray and a pack of colors.
A vacu vin wine pourer
probably a bottle of wine as well.
Sweets (Germany has a candy called wine gummies, those would fit in nicely)

Every year, stockings have
-underwear
-socks
-personalized ornament

They will both also get a Nintendo DS game, a gummy bear on a stick, and Swish for DD1, Slamwich for DD2.

Hmmm, sort of feels like that's not enough, but I'm trying to stay away from stuff that will just be thrown out in a week or two. Maybe I'll add some band-aids, Chapstick etc.

so far the only thing I have for the boys are big bouncy balls from the .25 machine at old navy and a big horseshoe magnet from the dollar tree.
eta- purchased a beanie baby for each, pipsqueek markers, mini oil pastel kit (ac moore) and a mini notebook I am going to put TOP SECRET on for their spy kit.
eta2- added some beyblades, a kitchen timer, a puzzle and an ikea owl puppet for my 5 year old, spy gear from target

...Some Lipsmackers natural lip gloss. ...

They make natural? Would you be able to link or point me to a location? DD had a fit in the grocery the other day because we nearly passed a pair of Disney-logo lip glosses (I let her buy them with her own money) but I'm not crazy about the ingredients ...

"Santa" typically puts toothbrushes, hand lotion, tissue packs and lip balms in stockings along with some small treats.

So, that's a long-winded way to say link please?

I got 5 of those last year to give as stocking stuffers and was VERY disappointed. I returned 2 (1 that broke right away, and one unopened) and threw another away after it broke. I have one left that so far has managed to not break, yet. The working tip stays in with a tiny little magnet. 1/4 in diameter. If you stuff all of the tips in the handle it is easy to displace that magnet. once that happens the tips don't stay in the handle and you have a tiny little magnet on the loose. Hopefully they fixed them for this season.

DD is almost 4 and I just got her this toothbrush from Target:

She had a GREAT time decorating it. We spelled out her name with the alphabet stickers, and then she spent a long time choosing stickers to decorate the rest of it. She was so thrilled and proud she wanted to bring it to school to show her teachers/friends, then to grandma's house to show off there...lol. The boy's version looks cute too!

This year I think we are getting http://www.amazon.com/Arm-Hammer-SpinBrush-GloBrush-Toothbrush/dp/B004MXLLBI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353284295&sr=8-1&keywords=spinbrush+globrush. They are also $5 at Target. I like the light timer feature and the boys love anything that glows/lights up. There were actually a lot of fun toothbrush options at Target.

DD is almost 4 and I just got her this toothbrush from Target:
http://www.amazon.com/Spinbrush-Battery-Powered-Toothbrush-Girls/dp/B003C4HCQG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hpc_1

He'd love that. I think I'll get it, but will probably get one for the others too, and then I'm still short 2-3 things. Ha ha. It keeps working like that. I think of something, but it's something all would like!

Star Wars action figures
Cash (we always do $1 for every year of age, a tradition my parents started)
Not sure what else yet...

a few Imaginext characters (superman for sure)
small Lego bags
Lego minifigures
big magnet I found at Michael's
not sure what else, I like this thread for ideas!

Does no one else get oranges (Clementines) in their stockings? I am not spending much money this year on gifts or stockings so my list includes oranges, candy (that they may immediately eat), a couple of hot wheels cars for DS2, a joke book for DS1, play food for DD, and some tape measurers (the round kind that zip in and out from Hobby Lobby) that my kids go crazy for.

I started doing oranges in the stocking after reading about the tradition here.

I think it's brilliant.

Growing up, we used to get a toothbrush, a selection of small candies and a candy cane in our stockings.

It wasn't until I met DH that I realized people actually got GIFTS in their stockings! The candy was enough for me, actually.

I'm doing my best to split the difference with DD.

We do oranges and filler things like socks, underwear, maybe a t-shirt. I'll probably throw in some fairy magic books and some break your own geodes. I always have the problem of buying cute little stocking stuffers and then the stocking just holds soooo much. So I usually need some bulky items to fill it out. We do band-aids and those cute tissue packs (sniff, maybe?). I think I will do notebooks and invisible ink pens this year also.

So far I have:
the microscopes from upthread
the spy gear (target) items from upthread
the target headlamp and fingertip lights
target dollar spot cube thing with pictures (like a rubix cube)
Brainiac Secret agent book and code book
Scholastic fair journal (if the librarian sneaks it to me without the girls seeing)
walkie talkies

All I can think of now...

Great catalog/site for fun and educational (without the kids knowing) stocking stuffers and gifts:
www.teachersource.com

For stocking, I am getting illusion spinners, no-pop bubbles, invisible ink pen (8 year old DS). I highly recommend the buzzing stunt magnets (best for a kid who can accurately toss them in the air and catch them...or you will have dents in your floor!)

We also do clementines!

And...

Some kind of candy
Tissues
Lip Balm (we are scaling back this year so I may have to treat the ladies to our fabulous but very expensive Chanel fave ;))
some beauty stuff - Tweezers, q tips, eye makeup remover, face mask, nail polish, or the like.
Pens, markers
Earrings (fun, fake ones)
Mad Libs!
Lotion
Band Aids
Candy cane
Hair stuff - clips & elastics

My mom usually does them but I will contribute this year with these good ideas!

For the Miss I have some fun socks and a teether. Will try to find some barrettes and more.

The Indestructible book looks amazing!!! Definitely on my list now!

We travel to my Mom's for Xmas, and she still does stockings for all of us there.

But we are starting a new tradition this year at home... Hannukah stockings :D Had to find a way to make use of the fireplace/mantle in our new house!

DS (3) - Glowsticks, headlamp, no-tangle parachute guy, elmo in grouchland dvd ($5 on amazon now), gummy candy, colored masking tape, calico critters ($10 ones from tru/bf), little carton of goldfish.

DH is so much harder! Weber apron ($7 lightning deal right now!), chocolate, little bottles alcohol/bitters, beef jerky from farmer's mkt, maybe a headlamp (for grilling), maybe freezable lunch bag for work.

I'm loving all these ideas!

Here are some ideas on my list this year:

DH:
shoe ID
lottery ticket
movie tickets?
silicon coffee cone

kids:
prism
comic book or magazine
fur real snuggimals
folkanimals finger puppet
private eye (jeweler's loupe - DD has been using them in school this year)

I love stuffing stockings & historically have tended to go overboard with it. I am trying to remember that our house is already too full of tiny things. This year when I see or think of something to put in a stocking, I am *trying* to take a moment to visualize where that item will be in 6 months (the trash? sprinkled around the house so much of the time we wish it was in the trash?). I think I got that idea from that video The Story of Stuff. It's good to think about that this time of year, but I still love the stockings and want them to be fun! Just trying to be more thoughtful and intentional about it.

I, too, am trying to be more mindful of where the "stuff" will be! This is well-put!

DS1 is getting his first pocket knife. DH feels this is an important right of passage. DS1 is not in scouting but DH still has all of his scouting books and keeps talking about going through the full tote and chip with DS1 so he can learn all of the safety rules. Hopefully I won't be posting about an ER visit in a few weeks (!!)

DD is getting-
some dollhouse accessories
AG hairstyling DVD
atomizer with rosewater in it http://www.amazon.com/Heritage-Products-Rosewater/dp/B004UOCB6I/ref=pd_sim_bt_1
I got a message from AG that this is backordered but expected to ship 11/29. We'll see if it ships. Anyway, it was under 2 bucks on the recent AG sale...if small enough this will go in her stocking http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/1593699166/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0&isremote=0

DS2 is getting a kiddie umbrella (has been asking for one and that will take up a lot of room) and a new wooden train.

We often do:
fruit
good quality chocolate
art supplies
balsa wood airplane
audiobooks on CD, print books
hair accessories
new pencils and pens, little notebooks (they love all 3 oddly)
scotch tape
DD might get some eco friendly nailpolish

In Europe, when they celebrate St. Nick's day on Dec. 6th, most kids get nuts and clementines in their stockings.

We used to get clementines from St. Nick under our pillow, where I am from we did not do stockings, gifts were left under the pillow. That was my favorite part, waking up to dive under the pillow looking for goodies. I was going to continue the clementine tradition for DD, but she is very sensitive to citrus and cannot have anything except plain old oranges.

I need ideas!

DD1 - Piggy paint, box of Boden socks (probably not in the box!), rechargeable animal flashlight, Brain Quest cards, stuffed toy owl

DD2 - flashlight, socks and stuffed toy puppy is all I've got so far.

Oh, and animal chopsticks for each kid.

My 6yo dd goes crazy for hexbugs. Target has the Nanos for $3.99 right now, I think. My dd is also getting lip balm, a headlamp (which will be part of our earthquake/emergency supplies), and a dvd. I also was going to include Rory's Story Cubes, but I think I'll actually save it for her birthday.

Walmart had these http://www.amazon.com/Totes-Electronic-Basketball-Game/dp/B009LQHW2S/ref=pd_sbs_misc_3 up near the registers for $4.xx Would fit in a large stocking. There were smaller versions about the size of a large ornament in the holiday section near the .97 items. They were $3.xx
