Having trouble deciding because most tracks are listed as 4+ and DS is almost 3. Most of the tracks also get bad reviews. DH wants to get Blue Track but its expensive and iffy reviews. Any ideas?

BluTrack is what I'm planning to get.

I'm not sure what you mean by iffy reviews? I'm seeing MUCH better reviews from them than the Hot wheel stuff.

Here are some reviews from bloggers I trust:

We have blutrack and several hot wheels tracks. Blutrack is fun but best with Darda cars or similar. Way to hard for a 3 year old to manipulate independently. My almost 8 year old still struggles with it sometimes.

Honestly most hot wheels tracks are not great for a 3 year old either. We have a very basic figure 8 track with a "booster" that my youngest will play with sometimes but I didn't see any current sets that were like it. Probably this was the closest-

For a 3 year old I would highly suggest getting a road rug. Ikea has some. Walmart carries them as well.

If you really want a track-
We have something like this that is well loved and my almost 3 year old enjoys-

eta- we have this one but it was $15 when I bought it- looks like everyone is selling it for $50+??! http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-4-Lane-Raceway/dp/B000JSI63G/ref=pd_sbs_t_19 )

The Matchbox Pop Up Adventure Sets are fun.

This is great for a 3 year old http://www.amazon.com/i-play-G02265-iPlay-Build-A-Road/dp/B0014QDYIY/ref=cm_lmf_tit_1_rsrssi0

While searching for you I added this to my almost 3 year old's wishlist-

We have a BluTrack and LOVE it! We got it when DS2 was 3 and DS1 was 5. If we set it up DS2 could definitely use it solo and could adjust hills, etc. We haven't even gotten into loops yet, maybe we'll buy those components for this Christmas. I'd just get the shorter one without any add ons and let him have fun with it. We suction cup it to our glass door and let it run down the hallway, they put stuff under it to make and move hills/ramps.

We just use Matchbox cars, they know which ones go faster and have a lot of fun racing them. In fact, one of my cheap rainy day tricks is to buy a few more cars to add into the mix, they have a blast.

We have this too. It's also fun, but doesn't get nearly as much play. I also have to fix it, unlike the BluTrack: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RDGHP0/ref=s9_simh_gw_p21_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=093W5FFC82ZPY0A45CFR&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846

If I had to pick one I would definitely go with the BluTrack, it gets a ton of play here.

We got DS Trick Tracks at about 3 and he still plays with them some. I had to set them up for him but he really enjoyed setting them off.

DS just got the Blutrack for his 4th birthday and so far, he's loving them. Would definitely recommend them. He would have needed more help getting them out/setting them up last year, though.

This may not be what you're looking for, but we love the Plan Toys roads and they work with Hot Wheels. Vine.com has this one (http://www.vine.com/p/plan-toys-plan-city-road-system-deluxe-152502) on sale and last I checked VINE30 will take another 30% off.

DS1 really enjoyed these roads. DS2 didn't really like them, but he also doesn't like the train tracks either. I love these roads though and they are a great price. If you like this, I would consider buying 2 of these at once.

We also have the 4 lane version of this http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-Super-6-Lane-Raceway/dp/B004U5C392/ref=pd_sim_t_1 . My dad did not pay that much. I think hotwheels tracks are mostly junk, but this one is great and little boys can do it. It is gotten a lot of use over the years.
