View Full Version : Epi pens and flying
Can you tell me if I need anything specific to get through security when flying with several epi pens?

I would have never thought about taking the actual box with the script on it! Will have to remember that when we fly!

My first time, I'd thrown that away. I got a letter from the Dr.
Now I keep the spare in the box.

I've never had a problem flying with them without the box or the rx label. I just throw them in a ziploc and send them through security and have never been asked about them.

I take a doctor's form letter, with my name and med filled in, just in case.

You don't need it, but I take it. My allergist even said that he didn't need to be writing it, but he would. I've never been asked anything.

I have never needed anything in 10 years of carrying an epipen, usually flying about 5 times a year.
It also doesnt need to take up precious ziplock space - medical items are exempt.

I have never needed anything either. Nevertheless, when I get the prescription from the pharmacy, I ask the pharmacy to put the prescription sticker on the plastic pen casing itself instead of the box so I can throw away the box.
