KidKraft Everyday Heroes for 5 yo?

DS saw the KidKraft Everyday Heroes play set in Costco and immediately said he wanted it for Christmas.

DS will be almost 5 1/2 at Christmas, do you think this set is too young for him or will he still get a lot of play out of it? FWIW, he is very into imaginative play and LOVES his Imaginext sets.

YMMV but we got that set last year I think and I have been plotting getting rid of it ever since it arrived. DC don't really play with it - they pull all the pieces out then move on to play with something else. I haven't gotten rid of it because they will notice it missing. I'm hoping to pull it out of DS1's room just before Christmas this year. I'm hoping the new toys will distract them so much they won't notice. DS1 is going to be 5 and DS2 is going to be 3.

DS is almost 4, and I have been wondering how long children will play with this as well. He enjoys playing with the dollhouse whenever we visit my nieces so I thought this would be a "more masculine" alternative.

Oh that must be the one we saw in Costco, that price looks about right. I just don't know if DS will get much play time from it at his age. We also don't have a whole lot of space so I may skip it.
