My son got this Primary Science Set for his birthday: http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Resources-LER2784-Primary-Science/dp/B0035EQDTU/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1353044140&sr=8-20&keywords=science+kit+elementary

We've already completed the few labs that came with the set.

Any ideas which books would be good for a K/1st grader with more experiment ideas?

Some books I'm looking at:
Priddy's book _Big Science Book Smart Kids_: http://www.amazon.com/Big-Science-Book-Smart-Kids/dp/031249176X/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Science Play, Little Hands (maybe too easy?): http://www.amazon.com/Science-Play-Little-Hands-ages/dp/0824967992/ref=pd_sim_b_16

Advantage to books that explain what is going on in the experiment and have some basic information about writing down your observations

We bought this yesterday at the Scholastic Book Fair http://www.amazon.com/Science-Rocks-Robert-Winston/dp/0756671981/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1353068540&sr=1-1&keywords=science+rocks

(Science Rocks is the name).

I haven't really looked at it so I can't answer any questions, but dd (1st grade) thought it looked good. ;)

Off topic, but did your son enjoy and learn from this set? I want to get my son a science kit, and this looks like a good one. Mwhat kinds of experiments are included?

Not a book, but you may enjoy this website: http://www.arvindguptatoys.com/toys.html

Also, check Steve Spangler and Science Bob.

I'll get back to you after looking at the index cards. The set got a LOT of use in august. Running water back adn forth. Putting color drops in water. looking at things with the magnifying glass, etc. Then he ran out of things to do. I'm trying to revitalize it.

I find myself kind of wishing we had gotten the Be Amazing Toys Big Bag of Science instead:

Thanks. I contacted Learning Resources and they sent me a pdf of the experiments included. They also have more you can download from the website. My DS is younger than yours, so I think I will start off with that one. It looks like the tools/utensils are more younger kid-friendly. I may also get some of the small Be Amazing kits as stocking stuffers. The insta-snow looks cool!
