View Full Version : Celebrating my weight loss

I don't want to seem selfish, but I'm coming here for some love. It's hard to talk about this w/ the women in my family b/ c many are struggling w/ their own weight issues, and I feel it makes them feel bad to talk about it (and a few get competitive). Dh is also not doing well in that area with the stress of his job and eating on the road all the time.

I think some of you may vaguely remember that about 3 years ago, I dropped about 35-40 lbs. I weaned DD and started sleeping again, Which I think helped a great deal, AND started focusing on ME some, and putting healthier foods in my body, not just what I could gobble up in the seconds btwn when the kids needed me. In short, I got myself back.

Since going back on BCP 3 years ago, the weight loss stopped, and I just could not get rid of that last 10 lbs. very frustrating, but still fairly happy w/ where I was at. Well, fairly recently, the last 10 came off and then some! I had set a goal of 130, but am now 127! I'm thinking I'll keep going to 125 ( I was 120 when married) or so. To be solidly in the 120's is like a dream to me. I haven't been there in about a decade. Granted, I'll always have my mommy pouch, but that comes w/ the territory. Right now, just feeling really good and want to celebrate!

Yay, that is so awesome, congrats!!! :boogie:

And I too have been struggling with me-time and finding time to workout and eat decent meals. To be in the 120s again is like a dream to me too, and I am also currently struggling with the last 10 lbs. Your post definitely gives some inspiration!!

I had sort of resigned myself to the 130's, but it happened! I'm sort of in disbelief. So, I think the take away is that no matter how long it's been it can happen. Thank you so much ladies, for the warm fuzzies :)

Hehe, so funny you should say that. Clothes are sort of hanging off of me right now. I have 1-2 pair of jeans that actually fit. I though I would shrink only on the bottom half, where
I carry my weight, but it's all over, so even tops that I once filled out are looking sloppy. Looking fwd to some good winter sales.

I honesly don't know. I think doubling down on my efforts, seeing some success and that encourages me even more. Somehow I got " jumpstarted", if that makes sense. I think you need to see some progress to get back into it, Kwim? Also, maybe thinking more about my meals ahead of time, having the ingred ready, and healthy snacking during the day. Oh, and I think focusing on protein and vegges, and cutting down ( but not out) on carbs has helped a lot. Really, that's prob what has helped me most.

You guys are the best!!

Congratulations! That's wonderful, and I think it's so important to celebrate such an achievement. I'm glad you turned here because I totally get how you can't always celebrate with those around you IRL. I remember when I lost a lot of weight, it was very difficult to share the achievement with anyone since it's a subject of mixed emotions for many. It was also interesting/sad to see how my weight loss affected certain friendships. Have you experienced that at all? Congrats again to you - way to go!!

That's awesome! Be proud of the wt loss. It is so hard to lose wt, one of the hardest struggles I have ever dealt with. Ignore the haters and don't feel guilty about your success. I have a friend who has lost over 125 lbs and I just admire her so much for it (diet and exercise), but she has told many times how b*tchy certain friends and family members have been about her wt loss. It is sad that ppl are so insecure that they can't even be happy for others who have been successful. Anyway, wtg!

Mixed emotions, that's a good way to put it. I don't want to make anyone feel bad, even if they're happy for me. I know it comes easier ( although not easy) for me than some of my relatives. Not really affecting any friendships, as most of my mom friends are pretty trim, and also don't seem to have eating issues. Also, 10 ish lbs is not too noticable. I feel better, but I doubt anybody would really notice all much casually.

. I hate to see other women in my family berate themselves after eating a treat. It's not healthy, Imo. My mom also likes to give me a rundown of what she's eaten and then spends time fretting about it. I find this more anoying than anything. I think it's better not to obsess/ focus on food. Distraction works. Other women in my family will watch me like a hawk and try to push food on me, making me feel bad if I don't eat to their satisfaction. When you're in the process of losing, your metabolism can slow down, and I reAlly can't eat what I used to eat to maintain, kwim. I hate having to justify myself and feel like I'm being watched.

that's really sad. Remember when people were worried Al Roker wouldn't be as " jolly" if he lost a bunch of weight?

Congrats! That is a major accomplishment! :-)

Can not wait to get there myself. I've lost 90 this year and still have a ways to go sadly. I've been stuck for a few weeks with little motivation and much junk in the house. I hope I am able to refocus and get moving toward my goal again.

Yeah, I really think beyond the direct scientific connection, lack of sleep made me eat like
I was in caveman survival mode -- I was a nonstop ravenous tfreight train of an eater!!
