Hi everyone, need some advice please. I have a Blvd in my car and a RA 55 in DH's car. DS is still rear facing and I plan on keeping him that way until he outgrows his seats. My question for today is that I need an extra seat for my mom's and babysitter's car. It needs to be super easy to install because I will be taking it in and out each time it is used. My mom also prefers to forward face DS which I am fine with, because she basically picks him up from preschool which is 2 miles from my house. She has a really hard time getting him in and out rear facing.

So what do you guys think? Evenflo Maestro? What would be the easiest install, keeping in mind that he will outgrow the latch soon. Thanks for the advice.

B is almost the same size just a couple months older and I got the secure kid 400. The surelatch is awesome but it also very easy to install with the seat belt. We got it for out sitter because she moves seats a lot. We are really pleased with it!

Maestro vs SecureKid.

If you get the Maestro now, you'll have to get a dedicated high back booster later. If you get the SecureKid now, you'll just need a no back booster later.

So you're spending close to the same amount of money, it's just either spread out part now and part in 3/4 years or all now.

Is the Maestro not a booster too? I keep reading the Amazon description and it makes less and less sense each time!

It has a seat belt positioner, but it does not adjust, so it is essentially kind of useless. After the harness is outgrown, it is pretty much outgrown very close to the same time.

Any other ideas before I order tomorrow?

My mom is really happy with her secure kid. Its easy to use and the super latch is great. DD is a BIG girl, 105th percentile for weight and height at 3 and has enough growing room I expect her to be booster ready by the time she outgrows the harness. The Maestro seemed like a cheap imiatation of the secure kid.

Did you get the 400 or 300?
I am in the market for a new seat for 3.5 yo DS too, and based on this thread, I think a securekid might work the best for us too.
I don't know the difference between these though- do you?

Oops. I didn't even notice there were 2 different ones. I can't tell the difference from reading the descriptions. Will research further and let you know if I figure out anything!

Basically the difference between the 300 and 400 is the 400 has the sureLATCH (I think thats what it is called). It allows you to connect the LATCH connectors then just push the seat down tight. The connectors automatically retract the belt. If you have room this is a nice feature. However, I opted to get the 300 for our babysitters car because I had to install 3 in a row with a MA and Chicco KeyFit. There wasn't room for the big SureLATCH connectors. The seatbelt install was pretty easy, too...even in a 3 in a row setting.

ETA: If you have a 30% off code for Kohls or Kohl's cash the Secure Kid is available online. I've never seen it in the store. I got the SecureKid 300 last week for $95.

I just called Evenflo and got the same information. The representative also told me that you can use the latch connectors in harnessed mode for a child up to 48 pounds so it may be worth it to spend the extra $10.
