DS has finished all of the books. He loves these books and reads them constantly. For a kid with dyslexia, this is really a bonus. Any other books out there that are funny, with some drawings, but mostly text? Along the same grade level?

Ds1 thinks that the Dork Diaries is hilarious. He knows it's a series geared more toward girls, but doesn't care.

DS1 is reading My Life as a Book (http://www.amazon.com/My-Life-Book-Janet-Tashjian/dp/0312672896), and he will be getting Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading (http://www.amazon.com/Charlie-Joe-Jacksons-Guide-Reading/dp/1250003377/ref=pd_sim_b_2) soon. Sounds like I should tell DS1 about the Dork Diaries, too!

Captain Underpants (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_sabc?url=search-alias%3Daps&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1353435234158#/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=captain%20underpants&sprefix=captain+u%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Acaptain%20underpants) books and a couple of related books by the same author. These are a big hit with DS who also loves Big Nate.

Origami Yoda (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_sabc?url=search-alias%3Daps&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1353435234158#/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=origami+yoda&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aorigami+yoda) series I think has some pictures, but I would have to check at home tonight to be sure.

My fantastically talented author friend Ellen Potter is coming out with a new book in June (boo!) called "Otis Dooda". It contains illustrations by David Heatley. The book is geared towards ages 6-9. My older kids cannot wait to get their hands on a copy!! Sorry it is not sooner... HTH...

DS likes the books you mention and now is into the Stink books by Megan McDonald. His teacher put a few on her wish list for the school book fair so I got him a few and he has had his nose buried in them. It is a series with @8 books. He is also into the Bone Series of books.

DS2 is a fan on the Dan Gutman My Weird School series (as well as his The Kid Who Ran for President),

DS1 really liked My Life as a Book and My Life as a Stuntboy, but his favorite all time books were the 2 Justin Case books by Rachel Vail.

Oh, yes, I was thinking of Geronimo Stilton. DS loved those and read them all. He also liked Humphrey books but GS has lots of pictures and fun changes of text type.

I checked and the Origami Yoda books do have quite a few pictures, along with plenty of text, similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

Different subject matter, but the TinTin books and the Asterix series are comic-book style. Vocab may push up a notch. DS ADORES them.
