I think DS1 would like Monopoly for Christmas. There are about a half dozen versions -- can someone please post a link to a version that would be good for a mathematically inclined 7 year old?
TIA

I'm going with classic for my nearly 8 year old I think- if I can find a deal.

Or possibly junior so DS2 (5.5) can play as well and I understand that it is a faster game which is a plus IMO.

We play the regular, old version. And, by old, it's copyrighted 1978. It was mine :)

I like that they have to do the math themselves, rather than the electronic version.

I think that either the regular version or the jr. version would be good choices for your household. The math is very basic in the jr. version, and not very challenging to my eight year old, but the length of the game is better suited to her attention span (and probably mine as well).

DS1 is 8 and has played the regular version for at least a year. He is bored with Junior, but will at times play it with DS2.

If you like any of the themes, go for it. We bought Disney Sorry! one year on a whim and it is so fun- glad I bought it over the regular. Now, Star Wars Monopoly, on the other hand, rarely gets play. I'd get a theme or plain original, not Junior.

YOu might also consider Payday. That's a lot of fun at that age. There's money and it's a shorter, simpler game.

Junior is FABULOUS for younger kids but I think your older one would probably prefer the original. Your younger one can probably play too with some help.

thanks all! I think I will put the classic on DS1's wish list and the Jr on DS2's wish list.
