1. at what age do you think the Loving Family line is outgrown?

2. which of these camping/camper toys do you like better......

DD1 would be getting the camper (something she's been asking for) and I was going to get the tent for DD2, so they could play together.

I'm really torn. We have tons of the 12'' dolls that would fit the barbie stuff and they're getting a doll house for that size doll....so I'm wondering if the barbie camper/tent would get played with more. DH seems to think it doesn't matter, they'll play with all of it the same.......plus the barbie stuff is way more expensive and not as age appropriate for DD2.

thoughts??

eta: DD1 is 4.5 and DD2 is 2.5

I think you would have a few year with the loving family stuff plus it is made much better. Barbie stuff tends to break easily IME.

DD is approaching 9yo, and just recently asked to switch from the FP Loving Family dollhouse up to a Barbie one. Actually, we have a 2yo and a 4yo here playing, and she's happily playing with them at the dollhouse now.

DD got the Loving Family dollhouse at 3 and barely played with it. She liked it in the store, but that was it. I sold it last month. She asked me to as it was just taking up closet space.

She has a couple Barbies and plays with them a bit, but not much. More than Loving Family though.

see this is part of my problem........DD1 has one real Barbie and a ton of disney princesses (which are the same size). I've been trying to stay away from Barbie as long as I can.......but I'm okay with the Disney princesses (they're made really well). We don't have any Loving Family stuff, but I'd probably put some of the dolls in both DD1 and DD2's stockings.

The doll house they are getting at Christmas will fit the 12'' dolls; so the Loving Family items would not really go with anything that we already have...........BUT, much cheaper and they'd probably get included with the Little People stuff ( I could add on later if they seem to like them)........and I really like that it's more age-appropriate for both of them, not just DD1.
