Melissa & Doug Architectural or Standard Unit blocks?

Which do you recommend? This would be for my 4.5 yr old DS. The architectural set looks like it would be better suited for older kids but the label says ages 3+.

If you don't have any I would definitely get the standard blocks.

We have both and the arch. Blocks work best as a supplement to the standard unit blocks.

We have the standard and they get lots of play at our house. I am hoping to add the architectural ones to our collection. If you don't have any, start with the standard and then you could add the others later if the standard are a hit.
