Is there a difference, other than the colors and the fact that one is solid and the other is not?

The magnet builders look like a copycat set of magformers (http://www.amazon.com/Magformers-Magnetic-Building-Construction-Set/dp/B002NGOH1W). These look just slightly smaller since they say a square is 2 3/8" and magformers are 2.5".

You can do a search about magformers vs magnatiles since its been discussed here before. I personally like magformers better because I find the magnets to be stronger so they are bit less frustrating to work with IMHO. Can't say if that's true for the copycat magnet builders though. The stronger magnets also mean that objects can be built and carried around (my kids like building rocket ships). Magnatiles are mostly used on the floor to build buildings, castles, barns for animals, etc.

That being said my kids are getting more magformers and their first large set of magnatiles this Xmas from various family members. We have used magnatiles before we have just never owned any ourselves.
