I've been on the Magnatiles hunt for awhile, too, and just bought from here. http://store.schoolspecialty.com/OA_HTML/xxssi_ibeSearchResults.jsp?type=search&minisite=10046&query=magnatiles
Best price plus shipping I've found.

Do they sell the opaque ones in 100 size too? I couldn't see them. If you have a link that would be great.

I ended my hunt today. I got a box of 100 for $100 at Learning Express. I had a $20 off coupon. They were originally $120.

Thanks! I meant to say clear, not opaque. I guess I was just too busy thinking about the opaque ones and used the wrong word. Is there a 100 set of clear? I think they are preferred over the opaque by most.

Lakeshore has BOGO 50% off, but that's over $200 if I make the drive down there, and $40 in shipping if I don't. :( I'd love a straight 20-25% off and free shipping sale.

I am looking for these ones too...I have checked this site before recently and haven't seen them. Clear is definitely my preference!

Do people mean completely clear or the translucent colored ones? We have these and they are still available: http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/product/productDet.jsp?productItemID=1%2C689%2C949%2C371%2 C897%2C808&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181113&bmUID=1354329518523

What, you guys don't want to buy 2 sets just to get half off one of them? At least you could get free shipping. I think I bought mine at 20% off and paid shipping. :)

If I had someone to split the sets with I would but I don't need 200 magnatiles. :)

Only problem with the Lakeshore deal is that shipping is $15 which kinda takes away from the deal. :(

yes you do need 200 magnatiles :)

we currently have 300 and maybe we finally have enough. I know that 100 is definitely not enough. My kids build houses big enough for them to stand in. Or they build villages with roads. Or Barbie size houses.

So the Lakeshore Learning free ship code and the BOGO 50% off code don't stack?

SHIP59 for free shipping over $59 and 6314 for BOGO 50% off through tonight.

Lakeshore only allows one code per transaction.

Ok, so even if I could actually use 200 tiles, I just don't think I'm prepared to drop $200 on them right now :)

I feel the same way. If I was to spend $200 on just Magna-Tiles for DS2, I don't think I would feel right spending a bunch more money on him for gifts. And one gift for Christmas is kind of sad, even if it does cost $200! DBF's eyeballs popped out of his head when I told him it cost $100 for one set!

:rotflmao: We were missing a few from our set one time, after DH and DS had been playing with them. DH didn't think it was a big deal. But after I commented "these things cost $100 a set, I hope we find the missing ones" he tore apart the
whole house looking for them and now he counts them carefully every time they play.

There's a 25% off code that is posted on the Metropolitan Museum of Art store site. It works on Magnatiles. It says the code expires 12/2 but I was able to check out with it just now. hth

Deal is dead - however- those are for the opaque - which are $91 from classroom direct - people have been searching specifically for the see through set. Was the price after code better than that?

We went to the discovery museum yesterday. There were two opportunities to play with magna tiles and my kids ignored them because they preferred to paint, play with sand or make something out of random craft pieces. I'm skipping the magna tiles now.

This is what I'm worried abuot - spending $100+ and having them bypass it. I'd like to try the starter set (32pc) but seems like people are saying it's too small to really build?

I do want to get them as they are educational and DD's requests for xmas are all the usual giant plastic ones (dollhouse, kitchens).

We had a 40 piece set to start...it is enough to see if they like them in my opinion. My 3 year old loved them, so I bought more.

DD didn't really take to magnatiles when I showed her them at Lakeshore (I think we were considering them for her 2nd birthday.) They had them in the classroom she was in between 2.5-3.5 and she really enjoyed them there. She's getting a set of 100 for her 4th birthday. I'll tell you the truth though--I would pay $100 for them so I could play with them. They're really fun.

The deal at the Met Store is even sweeter now. The 25% off code (L182) from this weekend still works and you can stack a free shipping code (S032) on top of that. A 100 piece set is now $81+ shipped! Great deal IMO. They only have the solid colored ones, not the translucent ones. It doesn't make a difference to my ds but to some it might.

YES! For $81 - that is the best deal I have seen for a 100 piece set - you would be able to sell for that when you are done with playing on ebay!! It is worth it to get the solid set at that price - go for it!

Thanks for posting

Do I need 300? I just got my son 200 for christmas awhile back on sale, but it wasn't that good of a price. What do you think?

I gave Magna Tiles as a suggestion to my in-laws for DS2. They apparently bought the 32 pc set. So would it be bad if DS2 receives the 100 pc set from Santa before he gets the smaller set from his grandparents? (We usually celebrate Christmas after the 25th with DH's family.) I hate to pass up this deal. DS2's bday is not till next September. Maybe I should just get them and give them sometime after Christmas for no occasion. We don't usually do that, but I would hate to rain on Nana and Poppie's parade. WWYD?

I would buy it - and ask the grandparents if they could "give" the bigger set instead and reimburse you - and return the one they bought ;-)

I thought of this, but I am pretty sure my MIL would be offended that her gift wasn't good enough or big enough, KWIM? Pretty sure she doesn't want to spend most of her gift budget (around $100) on one item, either.

buy them and hang on to them. Give them later. Then you can tell the grandparents that their gift was such a hit you had to get more to have more fun.

We bought our first set maybe 5 years ago. We quickly realized 32 pieces was not enough so we purchased an additional 100 piece set. My girls are now 8, 6, and the youngest is 3. It is not enough for all 3 of them to play and really build their own things... we could definitely use 100 more. Thanks for the heads up on the deal.

This is what we did. My parents got the smaller set at their house and we got 100 later. I also gave them to DS on a regular day rather than a holiday. DH was out of town and it was a loooonng day so I busted them out. I was afraid they would get lost in the shuffle at Christmas.
