I want to buy a ride-on toy for a 2.5 year old little boy, but not sure which one...recommendations?

We just got DS a Playsmart balance bike - it has such fat wheels that it really doesn't require "balance". I'm hoping it will be a fun transition to a balance bike.

(DS is 2yr 7mo.)

Depends on what you want to spend. I'd say a real balance bike would be most appropriate, but they can be spendy.

Do you want him to use it indoors or outdoors?

DS1 got a balance bike at 3, and that was great for him (more conservative personality). DD and DS2 were using it by age 2. DS2 is 2.5 and can glide, turn, etc. without feet really well now.

For indoors, maybe a wheelybug? We don't own one but I know there are a lot of fans here.

Plasmacar?

I'm a Guardian ad Litem and this is for one of my Guardian children. I can't really spend much. The caregiver wants it for indoor use mostly.

I haven't seen it in use, but what about one of those Little Tikes pillow racers? They have been on sale at Toys R Us a couple of times for about $20 and they look like a cheaper version of a wheely bug.
