View Full Version : Vegetarian meal ideas when working out to build muscle

I have been working out about a month now, strength training 3x a week Tue, Thu and Sat, and cardio on off days.

Everything is going fine, except that I know I am dropping the ball on diet. I am eating healthy I think but not enough, only 2 meals a day(lunch mostly some combination of salad and soup/sandwitch and dinner quinoa/brown rice with veggies/lentils with a green smoothie), and sub-optimal breakfast(cold cereal with soymilk). I want to eat smaller and atleast 5 meals a day or in other words eat healthy snacks to keep my metabolism going.

For instance, right now I am at work and starving with a rumbling tummy and nothing to eat at hand.

Hence I need some ideas for stuff I can pack to take to work with me. Also, what can I add to my diet to increase my protein intake?

Apple with peanut or almond butter for snack
Oats with nuts for breakfast
Hummus

What about eggwhites and tuna for protein? Do you eat eggs and fish?
