NO MORE BUYING AHEAD FOR ME!
I just cleaned out my gift closet and there is a lot of good stuff that I feel is much more needed in someone else's home then in my own.

In years past I feel like there was a different toy drive going on everywhere I turned. Not this year. Are some better then others at getting toys to kids really in need?

Am I complicating this? :)

Are you near anything that is collecting for Hurricane Sandy families? Our town hall collects for kids in town plus toys for tots. Our school collected today.

Best Buy and Toys R Us both have collection boxes by the entrances for toys for tots (TFT definitely at BB)

We use a toy drive run by local ppl. It used to be toys for tots, but now local volunteers do it. I too have given away stuff in our gift closet. I had bought some girl toys in our gift closet for bday parties and really we rarely ever get invited to any, so I donated them.

If you are on Facebook and "Follow" 'Jersey Shore Hurricane News' they are a great resource for toy drives for Sandy relief efforts in the NJ Shore area.

My DD's pediatrician's offices are collecting toys, coats & nonperishable foodstuffs for a local organization. Maybe your DCs' pediatrician would be interested in doing something similar?

If you're near a women's shelter, they may accept toys and things as well.

There's always Toys for Tots as well; I think their collection bins are in Simon-owned malls and Toys R Us stores.

I can't find Toys for Tots locally, but I saw a Brown Santa barrel in my son's elementary school.
