I am looking for directions to make cinnamon applesauce bears.

I have found several recipes for cinnamon applesauce ornaments in which the dough is rolled out and ornaments are cut with cookie cutters --- But, I am looking for directions where the dough is rolled into balls for the body, head, arms, legs and you get a cute teddy bear sitting up.

I have made these twice in years past, but now want to do them with my GS troop. I am at the point of just experimenting this weekend to see if I can figure it out, but if anyone here knows how to do this I would love directions, lessons learned, tricks.....

Thanks!

Here's the only thing I've been able to find. If you come across more detailed directions, let me know...they sound cute!

oh, nevermind. i see you wanted bears that stand up.

however, i dont see why you dont try with those recipes~ simply add a tad less applesauce or a tad more cinnamon to make the dough more sturdy! and let it take more time to dry too...

So, are you just looking for how to actually shape the teddy bear?

If so, how about instructions on shaping it out of different materials?
Here's a youtube video for a fondant teddy bear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJSRUlLZows

There are a lot of instructions for making teddy bears out of clay, too.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I am just going to play around with the recipe and get a feel for it. I made bears a couple years ago with my kids and aunt, but she made the dough....

They do smell good --- even now, years after we made them. : )

OP, just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread. I had never heard of applesauce cinnamon dough before, and we made some ornaments today. Such a fun project!

I've made the cutout ornaments and they last forever while still smelling yummy. Buy cheap cinnamon at BJs or CVS but also make sure to use a recipe that adds glue as well. I've found those hold up over the years best.
