Okay, so I have updated DH and my old iphone/iPod touches for each kid to get one. I have deleted email accounts from them. When I updated the software both have iMessage capability. I thought it would be fun for them to be able to text DH, me, grandma, grandpa, etc if they want. But since we have one iTunes account both devices show messages as coming from the same place. If I create a new iTunes ID for each device then I can't share stuff between them and myself, right? Is there any way around this?

You can create an iCloud ID and use that email for iMessage, and still have the same store ID.

Thank you for posting this. We actually turned off iMessaging because all of the messages were shared between me, DH and DS who recently received a phone.
