Kindle Books for Younger Elementary Students

Ds1 is getting a basic Kindle Fire for Christmas. I was hoping to load with books on sports as well Nate the Great, Sam, The Pain and The Great One, etc. It doesn't appear that there are many kid books available for Kindle. What am I missing? I assume I am doing something wrong.

Are you subscribing to Free Time Unlimited? It's free for the first month. We just subscribed and it has a ton of books on it. I haven't bought any books for the kids yet.
