Garnet Hill is running another sale and I'm not sure what the deal is, but you get a free lunchpack with purchase, plus somehow I got free shipping?

So I just ordered the Robot Jr. Backpack for DS with free lunchbag for $9 shipped! I figure we will use it eventually and until school it can be his little bag for nursery and childcare. It says 20%-60% off so there are probably some other good deals too!

Ugh, I keep seeing these deals for these backpacks and am tempted to get DD1 one for 1st grade next year. Would the Junior size still be good for first grade or should I get the regular size? And does anyone know if the Easy Lunch Boxes will fit into these lunch bags?

IME its better to have the bigger back pack. At DS's school they have a folder that goes home every week and it doesn't fit into the Jr back packs. The lunch box says its 10 x 8 x 3, how big is the easy lunch box?

Yes use D24MB3Y2 for free shipping. I ordered the backpack w/ wheels for an upcoming plane trip for the girls. I placed two separate orders in order to get 2 matching lunch boxes. Was able to use the code above for both orders for free s/h.

I used the code D24MB3Y2 and it gave me free shipping and 25% off the jr. backpack. I think they were 6.75 each. It didn't work on the full size backpack. Still excited! Giving these to my girls for their "something they need."

Thanks for the input. She has a folder in Kindergarten, so I'm sure they'll use a similar system next year too. Just measured our lunch box system and it looks like it will fit. Her current lunchbox might survive for next year, but not sure if her Brave backpack will.

That code is actually taking off 25% plus FS if you have more than one item....jr. bp, full size bp and lunchbag for $20.xx shipped looks like. Play around with it.

The code Mel posted above for free shipping works (for now), thanks Mel!!

Once you add the backpack to your cart, there is a pop up for the lunch box. I did get the blue plaid for my son and though there are more lunchbox choices, I opted for the matching blue one. My girls are all getting those (hideous) Justice suitcases so I got him the rolling backpack. Perfect. Awesome, thanks again for posting!

Got the code to give me free shipping but no discount on the regular backpack, but it did give me the free lunch box, so a backpack plus lunchbox for $14 sounds good to me. Do these bags hold up as well as the LE and LLB ones? I've always heard such good things about those bags and was hoping to get one for a good deal to use for next year, but if these are as good of quality, I'll jump on this deal instead.

If I had seen this yesterday, I would have done this, but last night I finally ordered the large VB duffles for the girls....this would have been cheaper but in the long run the VB will be worth it I hope!

I've played around with the code a bit, and it seems to be giving 25% of everything except the highest price item in my cart. Sort of strange.

It's not discounting anything in my cart. :( Does it only work on full priced items?

farmgirl
12-10-2012, 12:43 PM
No, it worked on sale items for me. It just didn't take the discount off of the one highest price item.

sf333
12-10-2012, 12:46 PM
The fine print for the code is below. There must be some sale items that aren't coded correctly. Of course, not the ones I want. :(

Offer is valid through December 20, 2012, or while supplies last. Applies to full-price merchandise
and does not include the purchase of Gift Cards, E-Gift Cards, gift packaging, monogramming,
or items from our online Sale & Clearance section. Excludes Hanky Panky, Hanro, Patagonia,
Wacoal, Company C, Dash & Albert, and Simon Pearce. May not be combined with other offers.
Not redeemable for cash or on prior purchases.

Since you can only get 1 free lunch pack with an order and the 25% off isn't combinable with the free lunch pack offer, it seems to associate the free lunch pack with the highest price backpack. Then, all others are 25% off sale price. Still some very good deals!

No. I called because I ordered 3 backpacks, 3 lunchboxes and a pencil case a few weeks ago. They have all of the exact items in stock and they wouldn't PA, insisting that I got a better deal then vs. what I would get now. (which was incorrect to the tune of $18). I was only given the option of reordering and returning, even though I pointed that they'd be paying to ship 3 separate packages that way, which would surely cost them much more than the PA. She still wouldn't do it.

Hope I didn't get the last one that you wanted -- I got the Tossed Hearts, which I think my DGDs will love. And I really splurged -- got the colored pencils instead of the crayons! Hard to beat those plus a free lunchbag plus FS for $6. (My DIL thinks I'm a great shopper.)

It is ok to use as a backpack. You have to take out the straps (there is a panel over them) to wear as a backpack. My DD wears it sometime and seems to have no problem. However, it is a bit clunkier/heavier than a regular one.

It is pretty big. My DD is in second grade, but we can fit a journal, folder and her planetbox lunch box inside the main pocket. I'm not sure how much space 5th graders need, though. HTH.

It's still giving me free shipping but not the 25%.

How good of a deal is the rolling backpack at $24?

We don't necessarily need one, but I can see how it might be useful for our upcoming travel... can my almost 4yr old lug this around in the airport or is this too big?

She can totally do it if she's motivated. DD lugs around a PBK rolling suitcase without issue (packed a bit light and with non-breakable items). She'll get tired of it though and just leave it in the middle of the airport as we're walking. The straps on the rolling backpack might be a good option for it being carried by an adult.

Has anybody received a shipping notification yet? I ordered 2 backpacks (jr & full size) and a "free" lunchbox. When I go to my order history, it looks like the backpacks have been shipped (although I haven't received an email yet), but not the lunchbox. Should I be concerned? I haven't ordered anything from GH in over 2 years.

Do you know my DD1 by any chance? ;)

Thanks everyone!!! I've been promising Lula a new backpack for about a year. She has outgrown her love of Elmo (thank goodness!) and detests carrying the old one when we travel. You will have made her day!!!

My 6yo DD was bawling today because she's always the last one out of the class at the end of the day because she can't zip up her backpack because "it's TOO SMALL" (maybe take the snow pants out of them and leave them on your hook as Mama has suggested, but that's another story) and then she, "needs a new lunch bag too" because the lining on hers is torn and it gets caught in the zipper and she can't unzip it and WAAAAHHHHH.....Fast forward to opening Chanukah presents tonight and a huge hooray when she got her new backpack and lunch bag (ordered 3 weeks ago when the GH promotion wasn't as fantastic as this, but still darn good).

Thank you for posting great bargains that come at just the right moments!

No shipping notification but i just checked the order status on mine. Both the colored pencils and lunchbox are shown as "in stock and reserved" -- guess we all swamped their ordering process. Hope it arrives by Christmas!

I placed my orders (2, the backpack & lunchbox and 2 tegu sets with another lunchbox on) on Monday morning and I just got my shipping notifications for both. They should arrive within 5-7 business days, so should be here for Christmas no problem!

You must live next door to the warehouse! I also got my shipping notice this morning and it estimates delivery on Monday (Ohio to RI). Oh well, still in plenty of time for Christmas.

Thank you, OP! Everything arrived today. I was super impressed with the little leather bracelet. It comes in a beautiful box with a bow and card, and is inside a little cloth pouch. Very nice presentation for a $4.xx bracelet! I wore it tonight - Merry Christmas to me! http://m.garnethill.com/mt/www.garnethill.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/roundabout-leather-bracelet/255972?listIndex=1&searchTerm=27384&listId=SEARCHRESULTS&redirect=y&un_jtt_redirect

I ordered the robots backpack and lunchpack, hoping they'd arrive by Christmas for DS2. I haven't gotten any updates from GH; originally it said something like reserved and ready to ship...now today when I checked my order status it looks like the lunchpack shipped and backpack is backordered til mid Jan.

Bit of a bummer, but I am still thankful for the deal.

eta: just checked and email w/ shipping info for lunchpack just hit, but no notice of backorder til I went online to check my shipping status.

Got a call from GH today saying that the robot backpack (jr version) is OOS and we won't be receiving it. The lunchbox had already shipped, so they said go ahead and keep it. Bummed about that, but it was at least nice they shipped the lunchbox and we can keep that.

I ordered 2 butterfly rolling backpacks. They arrived yesterday. I haven't opened them yet...waiting for little peering eyes to be somewhere else.

I got the butterfly messenger bag for DD for Grade 2.
Question though...where do you clip/put the lunchbox in this type of bag?
