DS, 3, has asked for "the real Buzz" for xmas. We are trying to decide what to get. I'm confused by all the different versions and conflicting reviews!
Here are some I've seen:

Buzz at TRU, $54.99 (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3544813&gcsct=0ChMIkJWZmoGRtAIVh_RECh0XQwAAEAA) (yikes)

Power Up Buzz (http://www.target.com/p/disney-toy-story-power-up-buzz-lightyear-talking-action-figure/-/A-14218546#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=buzz%20lightyear) at Target & Walmart, $40

Buzz at Disney Store (http://www.disneystore.com/action-figures-toys-buzz-lightyear-talking-action-figure-12/mp/1317377/1000255/) (would have to find in-store), $24.50

Do you have a Buzz figure? Would you recommend it?

We have the first Buzz. DS got into Toy Story a few years ago right before the 3rd movie came out so they discounted all the "2" toys and I was able to get things like that for a song. I think its an OK Buzz but not worth $50. It is like the movie Buzz.

I think my nephew has the 1st one.

My sister's only complaint is that someone was playing with it & the helmet shield thing broke ... but I don't know how or when it happened.

(My nephew just turned 3.)

The TRU is out of stock online. But if your DS wants one that comes in the spaceship box just like the one in the movie, then you would want to get that (you could use the 15% printable if it's in stock near you.) I was waiting for a deal on the $74.99 programmable one, and now it's out of stock online and in-store, so I'm out of luck.

I decided my DS probably isn't going to care either way, and ordered the Zurg/Buzz combo that is on sale at Disneystore.com for $30 (I think it's the same Buzz as they sell separately.)

Not sure about the "Power Up" Buzz but it looks different enough from the movie Buzz that I decided my DS may be upset, so decided to avoid it.

DS2 is getting the first one. We paid about $40 after a sale and a coupon. But, it was the most movie like, and gets good reviews on Amazon.

The Buzz we have is not one of the links you posted but we got it at Walmart and I have seen it at Target. It comes with a shield and powerblaster gun. Do NOT get this version! The legs broke off after just a few weeks and DS doesn't play rough. I read reviews and saw lots of other people had the same problem. I emailed the company (Thinkway) and they sent us a new one. So far so good, we've had it about a month now. So they have great customer service but I don't think the toy is well made. He will not stand on his own at all and DS gets very frustrated.

Here is what we have: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toy-Story-Power-Blaster-Buzz-Lightyear-Action-Figure/21104780

We got DS one a few months ago. He is really into Toy Story, but I didn't know if that would last until Christmas, and our neighbor's son has one and he begged every day to go over there so that he could play with it, so we got it just because. The best I can tell, it's like the first one you linked to. It's the Signature Collection one, and we got it at TRU, but it was 49.99. I was really hesitant to get him something so expensive, but he has really loved that thing. It has held up well, although I would say he's not super rough with it. The only incident we have had is that the front of the helmet got scratched by him dragging it on the concrete on our front porch. The wings are sort of breakaway, so if they put too much pressure on them, they pop off (but they are attached by a rubber string-like thing so you don't lose them) and are easy to put back on. I really don't have anything negative to say about the toy, and I'm glad we splurged on it, because DS really has enjoyed playing with it.

We are getting him Woody for Christmas, although, just like in the movie, I don't think Woody is as "cool" of a toy :) But I think he will be happy that he has them both.

It's crazy how many different versions of these toys are out there and how much the price can vary.

DS has the Disney store one, it's held up really well to all the rough play. And it is just like the one in the movie, as far as I remember.

Thanks all. I kind of had the feeling that we should just bite the bullet and get the one from TRU. It's just so expensive compared to the other ones! I hope he'll take good care of it...but he is 3 :p The best discount I can find right now is 15% off.

I went to check my store last night (they have it in stock). So I was looking at it, and this guy walks past me and says "That's an awesome toy; it's the best Buzz made so far--it's exactly like the movie." And I'm like, "yeah, that's what I've heard..." And he says, "Oh, and by the way...I work for Pixar, so I know the real Buzz." :ROTFLMAO:

I just wanted to suggest this playset for a Toy Story gift as well. It goes with the smaller figures. DS2 got it last Christmas and plays with it quite often.
