Drinking alcohol before positive HPT?

Not sure if this belongs here or in the pregnancy forum.

DH and I are not actively TTC at the moment, but we're not TTA either. What's the "rule" about having a drink or two in the days or weeks before being late and/or getting a positive result on a HPT?

(I know it is better to abstain completely, but I'm just curious.)

Drink until your period is due, then test. I wouldn't get wasted, but a couple of drinks should be fine.

exactly. until the fertilized egg implants, no way to get alcohol to the egg. very very early is the 'all or nothing' stage - either an 'insult' (really high fever, drinking binge, lsd trip, car wreck) does *absolutely nothing*, or the pregnancy is lost before you even knew you were pregnant.

so a couple of drinks before you have reason to test while you're being reasonably vigilant about testing is fine.
