Duplos or Megabloks?

Do you recommend Duplos or Megabloks - and why? DC is 2yo. Thanks!

DS started with Mega Bloks at 3, but quickly transitioned to Duplos about a month later. He still plays with both, at 3.5. Mega Bloks are easier to play with, IMO, and had the ability to build really big structures. I can't recommend on over the other, as DS really loves both, but like I said he showed little interest in either until he hit 3 years old. YMMV.

Mega Blocks are easier for really young kids, but they're not as good quality as Duplos IMO. Once DS could handle the Duplos (around 2.5 yo IIRC) he hardly ever used the Mega Blocks again, because they come apart too easily and that frustrated him a LOT. So we donated all the Mega Blocks.

We went straight with Duplos for my son because I got frustrated with Mega Bloks.

Ok good to know. We have Megabloks now. DC likes them - but they do seem a little flimsy and come apart easily. I think they are good for this age - but we'll probably upgrade to the Duplos (and some magnatiles) in a bit. Thanks everyone!

100% Duplos.

We got the Mega Bloks first because the were pretty much free (I think I paid $5 for them and no longer made FP block table) and they still get lots of play along with the Duplos. If I were giving a gift unless it was a character set like Dora or Cars (Cars used to have some Mega sets) I would just go with Duplos.

Duplos. DS doesn't care for Megabloks. They are easy to use but they don't get played with as much as the Duplos. What he really wants to play with are his older brothers' legos though he's much too young for them.

We didn't like the bigger Mega Blocks, but the ones the same size as Duplos were fine. We had both brands mixed together and used them interchangably for a long time.

:yeahthat: We have both but the mega blocks mainly got used from age 1-2, mostly for simple stacking or making towers bc they were a good early building material. DS (2.5) and DD (4.5) both now love Duplos, but very rarely use the megablocks.

My 16 month old is playing with our Duplos fine. And the Duplos and Legos work together so I wouldn't get anything else.

Definitely Duplos! We got a set of Megablocks as a gift and DS1 never played with it.
