What age for Magic School Bus?

Costco is selling the box set of DVDs for $27 which based on the current Amazon price ($54) is a good deal. I've never seen them but I know they are rated well here. Debating if I should go back and pick them up. What age did your DC get into them?

Are the books well thought of too? Ages for those?

My 3.5 (ds2) and 6 year-old both enjoy the dvds. Ds2 has been watching them since right after he turned 3. That said, we have a dvd player in the car and I only let them watch educational dvds in there...so they are kind of trapped. Most kids that ride in our car are excited to watch them, one 6 year-old did say it was a "baby show".
