DD1 has a long list of things she wants from Santa. DD2's is simple: a toy Christmas tree (and an apple sauce Crusher from Trader Joe's - ah, the 2 and a half year old!). I haven't come up with any I like - the Shrinky Dinks tree set isn't suitable for a toddler and the Plan Toys stacking tree (http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Toys-0514900-Stacking-Tree/dp/B001CMC41I/ref=sr_1_4?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1356074370&sr=1-4&keywords=christmas+tree) seems a little babyish for her. I came across this Playmobil Christmas set (http://www.amazon.com/PLAYMOBIL%C2%AE-4892-Playmobil-Christmas-Room/dp/B003AQBWRQ/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1356074005&sr=8-10&keywords=playmobil+christmas) - anyone have it? Ages 4-10. She is still not safe with small items - has been known to put them up her nose and I worry about her mouthing things still. Do you think the tree would have small parts? I could just take the tree out and put it in her stocking. The light-up feature seems cool, as long as it is OK for a 2.5 yr old. It is available locally but I probably won't be able to open the box and check.

I like this Lego tree (http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Christmas-Building-Set-30009/dp/B004A5S6XO/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1356074177&sr=1-2&keywords=duplo+christmas) but I haven't seen it locally and it will not get here in time for Christmas and looks like it has small parts (it says 8 and up).

What do you all think, especially any Playmobil experts? Any other suggestions for a toy Christmas tree? Thanks!

Actually, my first thought for a toy tree was the Plan Toys stacking tree! Glad you already know of it.

I don't know if you have a Lowe's by you, but over the weekend I bought this amazing glitter LED tree ornament for DD (20 months old). It's made out of acrylic (seems pretty durable) and it resembles a snow globe with flecks of glitter floating inside of it. It has a small switch on the bottom to turn it on and the light fades into several different colors. Incredibly neat! They were already clearancing them out, so it was less than $4, but they seemed to have plenty. I tried to find it on their website, but couldn't find it. Here's an Amazon listing though, so you can know what it looks like:
http://www.amazon.com/Lighted-Vibrant-Glitter-Christmas-Ornaments/dp/B007CBW29C/

I bought a red one, but they also had it in silver, pink, and green... maybe blue too. The tag says "Holiday LED Ornament" and the original price was $4.97. The UPC is 089945493627. Oh, and it runs on a typical cell battery, so the battery is replaceable!

ETA: And I love that your DD loves TJ's apple crushers! Mine too! :D

Thanks for the Lowe's idea - we have a Home Depot nearby but no Lowe's. I wonder if B&N will have something?

Do you have the Plan toys tree? Is it really cool? I am usually a sucker for wood anything, but that looks a bit limited from what little I can tell on amazon.

Crushers are epic here - I thought I would include a banana, apple and strawberry crusher - imagine that, Santa has them all! ;)

I'm not a Playmobil expert, but could see giving the tree from that set (and presents for under the tree!) to my 2.5 year old...the lights would be a big hit! I'm not sure my DD#2 would have been satisfied with the Plan toys tree...it's "just" an evergreen tree, rather than a Christmas tree, KWIM?

This was my immediate thought when I saw your post too. My DD1 is the same age as your DD and she would play with this. I think Play Mobile would be too advanced for her.

I think that we have that playmobil set or at least one similar to it. I was going to say that the tree is all one piece and then I went over to it and started pulling on it. The star ornaments, red balls and covers to the lights can all come off.

We probably got our set about 3 years ago. They could have changed it since then.

Why not a tree? Do you think that's what she wants? Find a small potted tree, get some battery LED lights and some mini ornaments. I bet she'd love it!

I've seen the little people set at Walmart and it's super cute. If it weren't $40 I would have bought it for my DDs in a heartbeat.

i bought the christmas room you linked last year and the red balls, stars and yellow tubey things (candles? lights?) come off... is that the tree that has the garland deals too? if so- they come off.
:)

ahh playmobil :)

i love the linked little people set- super cute. my 5 year old still drags out our little people sometimes-- so if she likes that sorta thing, lots of playtime left!

Walgreens has a Charlie Brown tree, and tomorrow is F&F. I don't know if she would like it unless she is familiar with Charlie Brown, but I thought it was pretty cute.
