how much to pay a babysitter in the afternoon

2 kids aged 7 and 8 for 3 hours once a week in a high COL area....I'm thinking $15/hr? What would you pay? She's a teenager if that matters.

In San Francisco I generally paid high schoolers $10-12 per hour, college students $15, and professional nannies and the like babysitting in their time off $20+.

Those were the rates they set.

probably. in our very low COL area, for my 3 dc (ages 5, 4, 2) i pay $12/hr to a college student and $15/hr to some of my SAHM friends.

I would pay a high schooler $12/hr. I would pay a college student or adult more, but for a high schooler I would think $12/hr would be competitive.
