What probiotics have you been using for your dc with success? Feel free to elaborate about any.

We usually opt for Jarrow due to the cost of Udo (x5 people), but if we are trying to fight off something specific, or recovering from a stomach issue, or if the kids were on antibiotics (only one of my kids has been and that was 1x), then I pony up for Udo. (eta: I should say, pony up for whatever I think best fits our needs at the time; recently that was an Udo product)

DH just went through a bout of ummm...GI upset, and had lingering issues for like a week afterward, so I just picked up Udo for him in that period of time.

Jarrow--YumYum Dophilus www.vitacost.com/jarrow-formulas-yum-yum-dophilus-natural-raspberry-60-chewable-tablets?

Udo- This one www.vitacost.com/udos-choice-childrens-probiotic-5-billion-cells-60-vegetarian-capsules? $12.80 for one month (2 dd) isn't bad.

The Udo looks like it's less (30 servings of the Jarrow is $9.77 and 60 servings of the Udo is $12.80). Am I missing something/looking at the wrong thing?

Udo has some pricier options. This is what we got for DH recently: http://udoerasmus.com/products/probiotics_super8_en.htm http://www.iherb.com/Flora-Udo-s-Choice-Super-Bifido-Plus-Probiotic-30-Capsules-Ice/9100?at=0 (price was over $40 at WFs IIRC)

I didn't really take time to investigate which one I wanted before we hit the store; we just picked it up while shopping at WFs for groceries. So it may not have been necessary, but I just wanted DH to be done with whatever was ailing him ;)

Yeah, I didn't want to wait for it to be shipped. He was having bouts of something for several days at that point. I think maybe he had temporary lactose intolerance brought on by the first round of it. If he avoided obvious dairy, he was fine. But it took a few days for us to connect the dots.

We have this one from Jarrow, Baby Dophilus (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013OSHDY/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1357925093&sr=8-1&pi=SL75), which I give them when they have tummy issues. I bought it for DD2 last spring when she had what we think was something very close to Rotovirus.

We have also used Animal Parade Acidolphilus Kids (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000LD3I8W/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1357925348&sr=8-1&pi=SL75). I used to give this daily to DD2, but got lazy about it.

Should I be doing probiotics for the kids daily or just when they are sick or on antibiotics?

I've been using this one for the girls since last winter when we went through a month of stomach problems.

I've just been taking a WH brand, but I'm horrible about remembering.

Well..we went with Jarrow. I got the Yum Yum Dophilus for dds and Fem Dophilus for me. They were both on sale and at the natural food store I happened to be at so I felt like it was a sign to go with them!
Fingers crossed.

I know someone who just went through c-diff after her son took augmentin. She did a lot of research and said that she will never put her children on antibiotics again without giving them Florastor - she says you need "saccharomyces boulardii Lyo". Fwiw.

In an effort to help with eczema, I give either Florastor or culturelle to my dd daily. Idk if it helps or not, same with the fish oil, but I keep doing it.

I am doing the same with ds, though he has a dairy allergy, so we only use culturelle. Idk if it helps or not but he has been on antibiotics for pneumonia (fun times over here) and has not had as many issues as he has in the past. Florastor is not dairy free so far as I can tell.

I think dd prefers the culturelle bc I think it is truly tasteless. She drinks chocolate milk every morning (not much of a breakfast eater so I just go with it) and I just put it in with that.

Yikes! DS is on augmentin and I've just been giving him culturelle. I guess it's too late now since he's only got a day or two left, but I need to remember this.
