Is it safe to take Sambucus/Elderberry while nursing? Just looking to keep my immune system as strong as possible. I'm taking 4000IU D3, plant based DH, and a plant basrd prenatal already.

My midwife encouraged me to take it when I was 40 weeks pregnant, fwiw. Hope you stay well!

I never could get any definitive answers, but got enough reassurance that I decided that I felt comfortable taking it. I'm not sure how helpful that info is though...

well they say you can give it to children ... so chances are the small amount of it that may get through your breastmilk will not be harmful. If I were nursing I would take it!

Thanks ladies. It was really hard to find info and the Yahoo link was all I really found too. Sounds like it is safe and I was only planning to take the smaller daily dose vs the dose you take when sick. Hoping not to get sick and need the higher dose.
