The broken cfl thread was timely, as DH was just complaining about how quickly incandescent bulbs burn out in our kitchen, but he hates cfl lighting in there. Where have you found good deals on LED bulbs, and who carries the warm-white type? Thanks!

What do you buy? What wattage?

I think that would depend in the individual fixture. The sticker on lamp we just bought said use up to a 100w bulb. Aren't they marked/used the same as other bulbs? I've never bought one.

That would help, huh? I thought about trying them in our kitchen. We tried CFL there, but hated how dim they were, even when it said they were the equivelant to 100W. Maybe after 20 minutes, they are. But, I want to be able to turn it off, too. We have 1 CFL now and just leave it on most of the time because it takes so long to warm up to a useable level of light.

We have 2 in our kitchen - I LOVE them. They are so bright and they come on (almost) instantly. There's a split second delay after you flip the switch but then you have 100% of the light! We are slowly replacing the CFLs with LEDs.

Is there anywhere other than Costco where they are discounted? We don't have a Costco. No Trader Joe's either. We are in shopping no man's land!

We have CFLs in almost all our fixtures. I HATE them with the passion of a thousand suns! They take forever to reach full brightness, and the ones in our bedroom hum. It would be worth almost any amount of money to me to be rid of them!!! Still, I'd love to get the LED replacements as inexpensively as possible.

We got ours at Menards (Midwest home improvement store). I don't know if that helps you. I haven't priced the 'regular' LED bulbs there. DH just got the can light fixtures there (you replace the whole trim on the light).

Thanks all!

I checked Costco today, and they had a few LED floodlight options (didn't look at because I didn't need them, sorry) and some decorative led bulbs. Only "regular" LED bulb they had was a Feit A19 dimmable 13.5 watt, which was $14.99 for one. I think it was supposed to replace a 60 watt incandescent. Hope that helps the pp who were asking about price.
