I give my kids a book for Valentines Day and inscribe it with the date. They aren't Valentine's Day themed or anything, just a "nice" book that I think they would like.

I have one for older ds this year already, but need to choose something for dd, who turns three in April.

Any suggestions?

Are you looking for a board book or a "real" book?
Both my girls love "Lulu" The Lady Bug Girl books, which come in both forms and DD2 is obsessed with all of her "hippo" books by Sandra Boynton!
The "If You Give Your Mouse A Cookie" series of books are cute too, and come in both forms as well. There's even a "If You Give A Mouse A Valentine" if you wanted to do a valentine book.

_Press Here_ is really fun! I'll second that suggestion.

Thanks for all the ideas! I am thinking hardcover rather than board book this year.

What do you think of How are You Peeling?

Ds loved it so much his paperback copy fell to pieces and I bought him a hardback. I kind of want to save those for him (I don't save much, but he really loved this book.). So maybe dd needs her own copy?

Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever is a big hit with my DD2 - meant for 3-5 years.

365 Penguins is fun too.

Mo Willems books are popular with my girls. We like Richard Scary as well, and the "If You..." books. Choo Choo by Virginia Lee Burton is a good one too. It was mine and my brother's favorite growing up. So was In the Night Kitchen by Maurice Sendak (http://www.amazon.com/In-Night-Kitchen-Caldecott-Collection/dp/0060266686/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top). Oh, and Make Way for Ducklings.

I always buy DS books for holidays too and this was his favorite of the ones I gave him for Christmas:

Such a great price now! I paid full price, darn!

Thank you for all the great suggestions! Whichever ones I don't get for Valentine's Day I will add to the list for birthday. :D

I like to get nicer books for my DS (he is 3) for holidays also. Two that he really enjoys are:
