I've been looking all over for a jacket like this. Pretty reasonably priced (compared to patagonia and northface) and love the slim fit style and super light weight and I love that it has a hood too. I'm just a bit hesitant weather it will keep me warm considering our winter can go down to -10 (which has been the case lately).

Anyone own this ? Unfortunately we don't have the store here, otherwise would love to try it on! Or if you don't mind sharing your favorite winter jacket. Thanks a bunch!

Based on the location of the reviewers (DC and NY) and the fact they don't list the down fill number, I don't think it would warm enough for -10 weather. Indeed, someone said it was plenty warm for 45 degrees. For Chicago, including significant outdoor time, I would expect to be hot in my real winter coat at 45 degrees. I would probably wear a light down jacket like that one for 45 degrees. Other brands to look at are Marmot, Mountain Hardware and Lands End (LE gets a lot of love on this board - for price, features and warmth).

Check out the Llbean ultralight 850 line. Similar but better quality and warm! And a great price point.

I have the jacket the OP posted. It is definitely NOT warm enough for you. I'm in Upstate NY and thought it wasn't enough when it was 17 degree outside.

Thanks a bunch! That solves my dilemma :) I'd definitely take a look at LE, Marmot. I saw the LL bean 850 line, I'd really have gotten it in a heartbeat if it comes with a hood :/

Patagonia's up to 60% off sale just started, and there are some nice down jackets on sale.

Yep, not warm enough and I live in NYC. Also, not that great quality IMO. I wear Lands End coats in winter to keep me warm.
