Title says it all. DS accidentally wrote with a permanent marker on his dry erase board. Please help us clean it up. TIA!

Did you try hand sanitizer? It removes dry earse but we also use it to remove permanent marker drawings from my kids' skin after swim meets. Good luck!!

Try drawing over it with dry erase markers if you have some on hand. I think they have solvent of some type in the ink and it often takes off perm. marker if you draw over it.

if that doesn't work I'd do the hand sanitizer.

Draw over the permanent marker with a dry erase marker, then erase.

Tracing over it with a dry erase marker has always worked for me. It happens frequently in my classroom, and the trick works every time.

rubbing alcohol. (ETA: which is the reason hand sanitizer works--because of its high alcohol content).

Aerosol hairspray also works. Just spray on until it is wet and then wipe off. I have no BTDT with using hairspray but was told it works. I have used hand sanitizer with some success.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I'm so happy to have some options. I'm off to go try them!
